- Sloane Stephens overwhelmed fellow American and No.15 seed Madison Keys, 6-3, 6-0, to win her first Grand Slam title at the 2017 US Open.
- With the title, Stephens moves up to World No.17 -- an incredible leap from her oft-discussed No.975 ranking to start the summer.
- Sloane has won 5 singles titles to date and with her U.S. Open victory, she became the lowest ranked player to ever win the women's singles title and the first American woman outside the Williams sisters to win a Grand Slam since Jennifer Capriati in 2002.
